Tips for checking whether SQL Server database can be connected


Sometimes it may be necessary to check whether the service of a machine is up, or whether a library of a machine can be connected, but SSMS can’t be opened, and you don’t want to log in to the server.

1. Right click on the desktop to create a text, then change the suffix to UDL and save it later (1. UDL). As for what UDL is, you can baidu down here.

Note: UDL (universal data link) is a universal data connection file, which is used to save connection strings.

2. After opening this file, you can test the connection by inputting the IP address of the server (I use the instance name because I am the local computer) and the user name and password.
