Teach you how the computer system can back up a driver while slimming down

Time:2020-1-14

The windows operating system feels like a bottomless hole. Although the installation requires only 16GB of disk space, it will not be the same for a period of time after the installation. It is always nibbling our hard disk. Well, although there are some miscellaneous things in the small C disk, only 27GB of 200GB can be used, which is also very annoying.

Although the disk cleaning tool of window 10 can effectively clean up the upgrade files and system garbage files, it has little effect. Moreover, some “big” folders do not have sufficient permissions to handle and cannot be thin.

For example, take “driverstore” (Location: C: \ windows \ system32 \ driverstore) for example. It’s almost two G’s at will. Do you know what it’s for?

Time to popularize knowledge: windows has such a running mechanism for driver files. In order to ensure system stability and security, it will circle the third-party drivers in the “driverstore” folder. When installing new drivers, it will release the drivers here before installing them. However, the annoying thing is that the system does not clean up the old drivers before automatic cleaning, but keeps saving constantly, so that it is convenient to roll back to the old version when there is a problem.

In this way, it’s not hard to understand why the folder will grow larger and larger if it’s OK. The more diligent you update the driver, the faster it will grow. Because it’s a folder that the system will call at any time, and you can’t delete the “driverstore”. The file names of all kinds of ghost symbols can’t tell which is the new driver or the old driver. Can you bear it?

Well, as a registry and life prompt enthusiast, how can there be no way?

Windows itself has prepared “pnputil” command and “pnputil. Exe” program for us to use.

After so many periods of training, everyone will start the command prompt in administrator mode, right?

To learn more about the detailed usage of pnputil, enter “pnputil /?” to view it, and the executable command line will be listed in detail. However, it is not recommended for the editor to delete here. In case of wrong input, the system will be liable for crash.

It is recommended to delete the old driver’s children’s shoes. Use “driverstore Explorer”, a graphical tool based on pnutil command. As long as you run it, you can directly display all installed drivers and saved old drivers in this system. Click the later version number (you need to run in administrator mode) to delete them. The “driverstore” folder You can lose weight in a hurry.

You said that the recommended software is finished, and you also introduced the “pnputil” command dry egg. Please take a close look at the screenshot of the above running command. For those who can play with the command, pnputil can delete the old driver. For everyone, it can back up all our current drivers as long as they are used

Pnputil / export driver * (there is a space here) plus the target location, such as D: \ xxxx (if the folder has been built, it is recommended to use the English name). After running, all the drivers in the computer can be saved.

In the future, when reinstalling the operating system, you can directly let the unrecognized hardware search and save the folder of the driver. You don’t need to search everywhere for the installation package matching your own devices!
