MySQL Database Installation and Navicat for MySQL Cooperative Use Tutorial


MySQL is a relational database management system developed by Swedish MySQL AB Company, which is currently owned by Oracle.

Double-click to enter the installation boot interface, click Next, check the information you have read, and click Next.

Then enter the type selection interface, which has three types: Typical (typical), Complete (complete), Custom (custom).

It is recommended to select Custom installation so that you can customize the installation directory of MySQL and click Next to create a custom installation interface.

For data security, it is not recommended to install MySQL in the system disk C directory.

Click Next to start the installation

When the installation is complete, the MySQL configuration boot interface will appear. Click Next

Here is an option to boot the configuration of MySQL (Luanch the MySQL Instance Configuration Wizard). It is recommended to check to configure your MySQL immediately.

Click Next to configure MySQL.

You can choose two configuration types: Detailed Configuration (Detailed Configuration) and Stand Configuration (Standard Configuration), Detailed Configuration, and Next.

Configure MySQL Server Type for MySQL

Three server types are available

 Developer MachineThis option represents a typical personal desktop workstation. Suppose there are multiple desktop applications running on the machine. Configure the MySQL server to use the least system resources.

Server MachineThis option represents the server, and MySQL servers can run with other applications, such as FTP, email and web servers. MySQL servers are configured to use an appropriate proportion of system resources.

 Dedicated MySQL Server MachineThis option represents a server that only runs MySQL services. Assume that no other application is running. The MySQL server is configured to use all available system resources.

Here I choose Developer Machine, mainly for the development needs in peacetime.

Next, select the database purpose

Multifunctional DatabaseChoose this option to use both InnoDB and MyISAM storage engines and allocate resources equally between the two engines. It is recommended that users who often use two storage engines choose this option.

Transactional Database Only (Transactional Database only)This option uses both InnoDB and MyISAM storage engines, but assigns most server resources to InnoDB storage engines. It is recommended that InnoDB be used primarily to select this option for users who only occasionally use MyISAM.

Non-Transactional Database OnlyThis option completely disables InnoDB storage engine and assigns all server resources to MyISAM storage engine. Users who do not use InnoDB are advised to choose this option.

I chose Multifunctional Database.

The following is the selection of data storage location, default.

Choose the maximum number of connections allowed by mysql. The first one is the maximum number of 20 concurrent connections, the second one is the maximum number of 500 concurrent connections, and the last one is self-defined. You can choose according to your own needs.

The following is to select the port of database monitoring, which is generally defaulted to 3306. If you change to other ports, you should remember the modified port when connecting to the database in the future. Otherwise, you can’t connect to MySQL database, which is more troublesome. There is no modification here.

Use mysq’s default port: 3306.

Configure MySQL character set, click Next

Configure MySQL service options to install MySQL servers as services. Installed as a service, the MySQL server can be automatically started when the system starts

Configure MySQL security options

Set and remember the password of the superuser. New root password (enter password) Confirm (confirm password) recommends setting.

Here is a check box to choose whether to allow remote machines to connect to your MySQL server with root users. If you have this requirement, check it.

Click Excute to complete the installation and open the command line window

Enter the password, Enter the key
