Interview site: how to turn the tide when you encounter questions you can’t answer?

Today, I’d like to tell you about the longest dilemma encountered in the interview process, which is also the best embodiment of a candidate’s on-the-spot adaptability, that is, what to do when we can’t answer the questions we encounter in the interview process.

Before you start, correct a misunderstanding, that is, for an interview,The final result does not depend entirely on whether all the questions in the interview have been answered

Whether you can be admitted or not is not directly related to whether you answer all the questions.

In other words, in my own experience, whether in an interview or in front of others, there are too many cases where I fail to answer the questions.

So when it comes to answering questions during the interview,You can be a little more normal and don’t be too question oriented。 Because it is likely that after you answer the question like an endorsement, the interviewer will deduct more points.

OK, now I’ll talk about how to do it from the perspective of specific operation

1、 Keep calm and collect information

This is the first and most important one.

It is inevitable to be nervous during the interview. If the interviewer’s questions suddenly have no clue, it will be more nervous. So the most important thing is to keep calm and never mess around.

Of course, just being calm is not enough. After calming down, one thing must be done, that is to analyze the problems of the trial officer again to see if there is any misunderstanding and any lack of information

In addition to confirming the meaning of the question, we can also collect some information by asking. If it is an algorithm problem, you can try to ask about the range of data and time constraints.

With the limitation of data range and time, we can basically determine the complexity of the algorithm. If the complexity is determined, we can greatly reduce the scope of the algorithm and solve the problem much easier.

2、 Put an end to silence and express appropriately

This is also a very important point. Many people don’t give up until they think of the problem completely or the optimal solution.

I have been like this for some time before. Sometimes I can think of a solution, but I don’t think it’s the optimal solution. I always think about it and don’t tell the interviewer until I think of it.

Later, when I became an interviewer myself, I found it very undesirable.

Because you don’t speak, the interviewer can’t know your state. He doesn’t know whether you have no idea at all, or whether you have an idea or an approximate solution. If he doesn’t get feedback, he can’t evaluate your ability and value, so it’s not advisable to speak until the last minute.

You should treat the interview as a discussion and communication. Even if you don’t give a complete answer at the moment, you can also discuss with the interviewer to explain your immature ideas, ideas and confusion.

Most of the time, the interviewer’s question is just to investigate your specific point. As long as you answer, it doesn’t matter even if the question is not completely solved.

Sometimes, your idea may not be expected by the interviewer. He will discuss it with you. In the process of discussion, it can also reflect your value.

So don’t be stingy and express your ideas bravely. Even if you don’t have a mature idea, even if you only vaguely know how to do it, you can also try to share it with the interviewer.

3、 Avoid questions and show yourself

If what the interviewer asks is not a problem or an algorithm solution, but a specific problem, and you just don’t know, what should you do?

This situation is really tricky, because you don’t know the answer, and you can’t talk about ideas and insinuations. At this time, you need to use some skills to avoid this problem.

first,You need to say what you know first. Don’t say what you don’t know or are vague.

Because there are many concepts in the technical field and many names are similar, but they are different, it is very likely that the donkey’s lips are not the horse’s mouth. This is a big taboo in the interview.

Say as much as you know, but what if you really don’t know or can’t remember?

If you can’t remember, you just can’t remember. Don’t lie. But not lying doesn’t mean there’s no room for maneuver. You can say that this technology is not used much at ordinary times. In our XX field, I am familiar with XX technology, otherwise I’ll tell you about it.

Don’t underestimate this short paragraph. Let’s analyze it carefully. This sentence contains a lot of content.

First of all, you honestly told the interviewer that this question may not be answered. Then you tell the interviewer that although you can’t answer the question, you know the technology or the direction of the question.

Finally, you give a solution. Although I don’t know a, I know that approximate B can also play an approximate effect.

As long as there is no big difference between a here and B provided by you, there is generally no problem. If you don’t even have an approximate answer, you can only force some directions you are good at.

For example, if you ask about your database, you really haven’t used it. It’s not impossible to force yourself to say that you are familiar with the JVM. At least it’s much better than saying I don’t know

4、 Consolidate yourself

So how can we answer questions in the interview?

Of course, the answer is to improve your strength in work or study. How can you learn correctly and in a direction? Is there any free information to learn from. To this end, I sorted out some learning materials and routes:
