In this solution demonstration, six filecoin storage providers purchased proven renewable energy from 3degrees using energy web zero. Energy web zero is an open renewable energy search engine, and protocol labs and 3degrees are supporters of encrypted climate agreements. This solution will eventually be applied on different blockchains to make it easier for cryptographic asset computing providers to provide proof of using green computing power.

The crypto climate agreement is a private sector led initiative aimed at reducing carbon emissions from the crypto asset industry using open source decentralized solutions and promoting best industry practices. Energy web is a member driven global non-profit project aimed at accelerating the transformation of low-carbon and customer-centered energy paradigm by unleashing the potential of open source and digital technology. The renewable energy purchased in the exhibition is recorded on filrep, a reputation system that provides services to users interested in storing data on the decentralized filecoin network. It integrates renewable energy data from energy web zero into the reputation system, which allows users to take renewable energy into account when selecting storage service providers. Each record on filrep points to a verification page of energy web zero, which will display the location of energy production, record the type of renewable energy, and provide a certificate to prove the ownership of the corresponding renewable energy points.

Next year, protocol labs and energy web will create a series of open source solution packages to enable all filecoin storage providers to search and purchase renewable energy on energy web zero. The link between the did of the filecoin storage provider and the verifiable green filecoin computing power will reflect the zero carbon emission status of the storage provider to the filecoin reputation system, and enable its energy attributes to be tracked throughout the chain of users, storage providers and various renewable energy projects.

This cross chain solution under development can be extended to computing providers in other ecosystems, because the underlying technical architecture will use verifiable and interoperable hash links, which is the basis of Web3 Technology (such as IPFs) and all blockchains. Therefore, this project will support the development of verifiable renewable energy encryption computing projects such as green hashrate.
