 Mac OS X系统中应用程序安装与卸载的技巧

Installation and uninstallation of applications under Mac OS X:

Applications under Mac OS X are divided into three environments: cocoa, carbon and classic.

  Cocoa

Cocoa application environment is specially designed for applications running only on Mac OS X. applications based on cocoa can give full play to all functions of Mac OS X. such applications cannot run on Mac OS 9 system.

  Carbon

Carbon application environment allows developers to use the simplest traditional C language interface to create Mac OS X applications. With carbon, applications can make full use of the functions provided by Mac OS X while maintaining compatibility with previous generations of Mac OS systems.

  Classic

The classic application environment enables applications before Mac OS 9 to run normally under Mac OS X, but these early applications can not fully experience the advantages of Mac OS X, and need to use traditional methods.

1 install the application

The method of installing these three types of applications is similar, and only individual operations are different.

1-1 installing programs from CD

Generally, there is an installer with the name of “Install” or “setup” in the software installation CD. Some installers are packaged as a package file. Double click the program icon, and then install it according to the program installation wizard interface.

Before copying files, in order to restrict unauthorized users from installing software at will, most software installation programs require users to enter administrator account and password, and the installation process will not continue until they are entered correctly. Then select the installation location of the program according to the prompt. The default installation location is the “application” folder of the system. After installation, find the installed folder in the hard disk and double-click the application to run.

1-2 installing programs from software packages

Most of the sharing and free software downloaded from the Internet are compressed files. The types of these compressed files are sit、. HQX, etc. double click this file, and the system will automatically call the stuff expander program (placed in the utilities folder in the application folder), extract the installation folder, and then run the installation program in the installation folder.

1-3 installing programs from disk images

Some installers are a disk image file, usually in dmg、. img、. At the end of toast, you need to install the image with disk copy program or third-party software (such as toast) before running the installer. The sources of disk image files include: downloading from the Internet, decompressing compact discs and compressed files, and generating recording software. Double clicking this file system will generally automatically call the disk copy program to install the disk image. The system will treat it as a virtual disk, open the disk, and double-click the installer (including the install or setup icon) to start the installation.

1-4 direct copy installer

Some applications can be used directly by copying their folders to the hard disk folder without installation, such as the installation folder of snapzprox program. It prompts you to install the program by dragging the folder to the application folder in the system. In fact, these programs can be run normally by copying to any location in the hard disk.

1-5 installing classic applications

When installing classic applications, the system will first check whether the classic environment is running. If it is not running, the system will automatically start the classic environment and then start installing classic programs.

be careful

Not all classic installers can be installed in the environment of Mac OS X. many classic installers will encounter errors such as unable to find the installation disc and interrupted installation when installing in Mac OS X. it is recommended that users switch to Mac OS 9 Install these programs in the x environment.

If you often use an application, you can drag the application icon to the dock to facilitate the next quick run.

After installing Mac OS X into the system, cocoa based applications cannot run in Mac OS 9 system. Therefore, at present, the installation CD of cocoa based applications generally contains two installation folders, which are used to install Mac OS X and Mac OS 9 systems respectively.

After the carbon based application is installed into the Mac OS X system, users can run it directly without running the installer in the Mac OS 9 system.

2 uninstall the application

Most applications are easy to uninstall. Just drag the entire folder where the application is located into the wastebasket, and then empty the wastebasket.

Some applications also have some personal settings in the following folders: ~ / library / preferences (~ refers to personal private folders), and the corresponding files are deleted manually.

If you want to uninstall system components, you can’t delete them manually. There is a special system component uninstall software desinstall, which can easily uninstall the installed components in the system.

The above is the method of installing and uninstalling applications in Mac OS X system. With this method, we can easily install or uninstall applications in Mac OS X system and manage our computers.
