When replacing an old computer with a new one, if the old mechanical hard disk is not broken, I believe many users will still choose to remove the mechanical hard disk from the old computer and install it on the new computer. It will continue to be used as an ordinary storage disk until the hard disk is bad. But many Xiaobai don’t know how to operate it. Here’s a way to install the old mechanical hard disk brought by Xiaobian on the new desktop computer. Let’s have a look!

  How to install the old mechanical hard disk into the new desktop computer:

1. Old mechanical hard disk (there are two interfaces that need to be connected, one is SATA data cable and the other is SATA power cable (on the power supply))

2. SATA cable

3. Small screwdriver, hard disk screw (old hard disk screw can be removed)

Open the mainframe box of desktop computer. There should be a reserved hard disk space inside the box. Directly install the old mechanical hard disk in the hard disk position of the box, and then fix it with hard disk screws. However, some boxes are brackets and can be installed directly without screws;

Find the redundant SATA power supply interface in the mainframe to supply power to the old mechanical hard disk;

When the old mechanical hard disk is plugged into the SATA power supply cable and SATA data cable, it is very good to identify one large and one small;

The other end of the SATA data cable of the old mechanical hard disk needs to be connected to the SATA interface on the motherboard and preferentially connected to the sata3.0 interface (if your mechanical hard disk is sata2.0, if you plug it into the motherboard sata3.0, it will also be reduced to 2.0, while the mechanical hard disk is sata3.0 and sata2.0 on the motherboard, it will also be reduced to 2.0. Of course, the motherboard of the new computer certainly does not have a 2.0 interface, so it doesn’t need to be considered).

Note: if a computer has multiple hard disks, you need to set the hard disk startup order in BIOS
