Several different buttons of MAC and windows

Before we start, let’s get to know some strange keys on Apple Mac keyboard, such as (Command / Cmd)、“Option”, “Ctrl”, “shift” and so on.

One of the most unique is the MAC keyboard dedicated keysIt’s called the “command” key, which is similar to windows⊞ WinKey. If you connect an ordinary keyboard, the default win key is equivalent to the ⌘ key.

Alt, Ctrl, shift and other buttons are available on the Mac, but sometimes on some software interfaces or web pages, they are represented by “symbols”, which are equivalent to abbreviations. See the table below for details.

Buttons for windows and MAC
⊞ Win The symbolic representation is called the command key
ALT The symbolic representation is called the option key
SHIFT Symbolic representation
CTRL The symbol is called control or Ctrl

As long as we understand the symbols of these buttons, we can read many MAC shortcuts. For example, ⌘ + ⌥ + D means Command + option + D. Now, let’s share some comparisonsCommon Mac OS shortcutsThey can make your daily operation more convenient and efficient.

The most common MAC keyboard shortcuts to remember:

Close / exit appCommand + Q

This shortcut is similar to windowsAlt+F4, you can exit the currently running application immediately. This shortcut key is very practical, because on Mac OS, clicking the red x button on the software interface only closes its “window”, and does not really exit the software. It still runs in the background. If you want to quit the software, pressCmd + QClosing the software is the quickest way.

Copy and pasteCommand + C / V

Command + C can copy, and then paste content or files with Command + V, which we are all familiar with, so we don’t need to explain more.

Cut contentCommand + X / V

You can cut text content, but this shortcut cannot cut the file

Cut / move filesCommand + Option + V

There is no “cut” operation on the right-click menu of MAC files. You can only complete “copy” by using CMD + C and then CMD + V for files. If you use the shortcut key of CMD + C and then command + option + V, you can move the file. After the file is copied to a new location, the file in the original path will be deleted, which is equivalent to cutting in windows.

Paste plain text / clear text style formattingCommand + Option + Shift + V

When we use office or copy some text paragraphs in the browser, we often bring their styles. And when we need to paste, these formats can be annoying. Using command + option + Shift + V instead of CMD + V, you can paste the contents of the clipboard as “plain text format”, that is, remove all style formats.

Screenshot of MACCommand + Shift + 5

Many people want to download the third-party screen capture software whenever they need to take screenshots and record screens. In fact, the MacOS system itself has built in a pretty good function of screenshot and screen recording, which can be called out by pressing Command + Shift + 5. It can support full screen capture, area capture, window capture, full screen recording and area recording, and its functions are very comprehensive. The most important thing is that it is free of installation and download. Every MAC comes with it! It is the best partner for office users!

Generally speaking, just remember Command + Shift + 5, because it has a visual toolbar (as shown in the figure above), which can operate in different modes. But if you have frequent screenshots, you can have a deeper understanding of the system’s screenshot function, because it also has a lot of “Sao operation”.
